Did you know that we offer traditional Thai massage?
It’s true! In addition to Swedish and Deep Tissue, Reva Health Spa Kota offers several specialty massages. One of them is Thai massage. Sometimes called Thai yoga massage, this rejuvenating experience combines compression and stretching to relax your muscles.
Be sure to wear loose, comfortable clothing to your Thai massage. When you arrive, your therapist will ask you to lie down on a mat. Rather than using oils or lotion and rubbing the muscles, your therapist will compress, pull, and stretch your body.
This style of massage generally follows designated lines (called “sen”) in the body. The legs and feet of the therapist can actually be used to position your body or limbs before certain areas are compressed or stretched. In other positions, their hands will fix the body while their feet perform the massaging.
Thai massage incorporates rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body. This may include lengthening fingers, toes, and ears, and your body may be moved through various different positions. There is a standard protocol and rhythm to the massage, which the therapist will adjust to match your individual needs.
All of this stretching and holding is for a purpose! Each movement and position helps the body to release tension in joints, muscles, and fascia, thereby freeing your entire body of stiffness and pain. With careful application of pressure along the sen lines (referred to as “energy meridians” in Chinese medicine), this massage helps to release any energy blockages and stagnation, helping you feel happy, relaxed, and energetic.
If you have not yet considered Thai Massage as a way to alleviate stress and feel rejuvenated, we invite come in and try it. We know you will love it!
